ORIGINAL ARTICLE: BAILEY — The Park County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the local public’s assistance in locating missing 17 year old Maggie Long out of the Bailey, Colorado area.
Maggie was last seen on December 1, 2017.
Maggie was last seen leaving Platte Canyon High School after school. She had to run home to retrieve something, but the high school senior never returned to her school for a concert she contributed to organizing. On the same night as Maggie’s disappearance, her Park County home caught fire as a result of arson. Her car was located at the home. On December 2, 2017, the day after Maggie vanished, investigators, fire officials, and the Colorado Bureau of Investigations were all at the scene of the fire on County Road 43. Two days later, the district attorney for the Park County Sheriff’s Office successfully filed for a gag order on the case, which restricts any release of information to the public. There are currently no arrests reported, nor is there a call for an organized search party. All of Maggie’s communications between 2:30 pm and 8 pm on the day she disappeared are a priority in the case. The Platte Canyon High School is offering services for support to Maggie’s fellow students. Bailey residents are on high alert for answers on what happened to Maggie Long, and this mystery reminds the town of a previous disaster that affected the community. In 2006, Emily Keyes was killed during a hostage situation that took place inside the doors of Platte Canyon High School.
Maggie is described as:
• GENDER: Female.
• ETHNICITY: Asian.
• HAIR: Brown with blonde highlights.
• EYES: Brown.
• HEIGHT: 5 feet 3 inches.
• WEIGHT: 125 pounds.
